The HealthLine is a confidential and free telephone line staffed by experienced Registered Nurses. It is available to all residents of Newfoundland and Labrador, of any age. Call 811 at any time, day or night, to speak to a Registered Nurse. They are always there for you.
Did you know... that the HealthLine receives an average of 100 calls per day from people seeking help from all over the province.
Did you know... that on average only 14% of total callers are referred to the emergency department for care after speaking with the HealthLine nurse.
Did you know... that the HealthLine will provide follow-up calls, with consent, to callers who have contacted the HealthLine because of a mental health or addictions concern.
Did you know... of those who were planning to seek care at the emergency department, 18.5% were diverted to a lower level of care after speaking with a HealthLine nurse.

Unable to reach 811?
If you use “Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)” or web-enabled telephone services like Skype or Google Talk, 811 may not connect. Instead, call 1-888-709-2929 to reach the HealthLine.
Unable to reach 811 but not using VoIP?
If you are unable to reach the HealthLine by dialing 811 from your phone, please contact your telephone service provider and let them know. The entire province of Newfoundland and Labrador should be able to access 811 when using a registered telephone service provider.
